Certified Paperhangers are graduates who skills are comprehensive. These select few installers have studied course manuals to address all manner of installation concerns, ranging from estimating to adapting to the needs of the site. From primer selection to adhesive determination. They would have skills which allow them to succeed with many types of wallcovering from simple prepasted to delicate fabrics and murals. These elite installers have a long history of installation when they submit their references to the program and they are then tested on the content of the course material to assure everyone that they have the skills required to tackle high end and unique installations of materials which are often delicate or demanding.
- Commercial Installation 101
Completion of this class will mean the student is proficient at: measuring for commercial vinyl goods, setting up a commercial jobsite, pulling vinyl wallcovering through a machine and creating proper commercial seaming through overlapping and doublecutting. Students will have understand how to handle patterning and how to follow up on a punchlist.
- Fromental
Graduates of this specialty class are familiar with all of the installation techniques related to this hand painted silk wallcovering. Class topics include hands-on knowledge of the necessary techniques for trimming, proper layout, wall preparation as well as the method to installer the correct liner for each installation. Each graduate is familiar with all of the pertinent details involved with handling and installing this delicate premium material.
- Lincrusta 100
Each graduate of this specialty class will learn the skills to handle this unique and historical three dimensional wallcovering. This class includes discussion of layout, wall preparation, material handling and ordering. Students also learn cleaning, trimming, adhesive use, application techniques and fundamental finishing methods.
- Lincrusta 200
This advanced class with provide graduates with the techniques for installing staircases and more complicated and detailed areas. Students will advance into ceiling applications and additional finishing techniques.
- Residential Wallcovering Installation
Graduates of this course are skilled in how to select and apply wallcovering approved primers to common wall surfaces, how to measure for wallcoverings, how to layout/engineer the installation and, finally, how to balance installations in order to achieve the best possible look for the combination of the room, the specific material and the methods of installation. Details such as seam placement, HVAC vents and outlet/switch covers are addressed. Additional topics include: selecting the ceiling line placement and all installation details for both pre-pasted and unpasted wallcoverings. This is considered a basic level class.
